Bilaarr (Bellah) was the name of my great, great, great grandmother also knows as the Inlad Casuarina or the Swamp She Oak.
It was told to me by an elder of my Uncle Roy Barker, that his tree has special significance and was traditionally knows as the Spirit Tree. This tree was a deep and powerful connection to our ancestors.
Sitting under these trees, the old Grey Hairs could hear in the whistling of the Casuarine leaves, the vibrational voices of those past.
I’m proud of those from whom I have come and the blood names they held.
